Mr. William H. “Bill” Miller, age 76, of Loblolly Lane, Boone, died Wednesday evening, May 19, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center. Born October 7, 1933 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Fred Cecil and Flossie Kate Church Miller. Bill was a graduate of North Carolina State University an engineer and was a US Navy Veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Snow Lodge # 363 AF & AM and the Scottish Rite. Bill taught at Caldwell Community College for nine years and was a member of the Board of Directors for Caldwell Community College. He is survived by his wife, Donna Cook Miller, three children; Terrell Lane Miller and wife Sherry of Wilkesboro, Kelly Miller McDonald and husband Mark of Greensboro, and Patrick Hugh Miller and wife Cameron of Lexington, eight grandchildren; Dominique Nunn, Chase Miller, Nicholas and Alexis Nunn, Samuel and Patrick McDonald, Parker and Owen Miller, and one brother; Joe Miller and wife Lynda of Boone. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister; Kate Miller and one brother; Fred Cecil Miller, Jr. A Celebration of Life service for William H. “Bill” Miller will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Bud Russell and Rev. Roy Dobyns. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church until 6 o’clock. The family respectfully requests no food or flowers, and suggests memorials to Snow Lodge #363, AF & AM, PO Box 2672, Boone, NC 28607 or to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. Brothers, It is very difficult for me to type these words. Brother Bill Miller has gone onto be with God. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Boone on Saturday @ 3PM with full Masonic Rites. Visitation will be shortly after the service at Austin and Barnes Funeral Home in downtown. An Obituary will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
Practices for the Lodge of Sorrows will be held tomorrow @ Snow Lodge @ 730PM. God Bless Brother Miller and his family. Truly a Mason among Men.

Brother Wesley Hawkins examined Bro. Matt Rollins on his Entered Apprentice cathechism tonight. Bro. Rollins was found to be proficient and will soon proceed to Fellow Craft. Congratulations to him.
Bro Melvin Norris, PM examined Bros. Mark Virginia and Rick Sackrider on their Fellow Craft cathechim’s and were also found proficient. Congratulations to these future Master Masons.

REMINDER: Snow Lodge will host a Fellow Craft degree at our next stated communication. In addition, they will also host a Master Mason degree on March 23 @ 7PM. A team from Wilkesboro will be presiding that night, and WM Jerry Moretz, hopes that all can attend. Also, The Scottish Rite will have a meeting in Boone this year. All Scottish Rite Masons are encouraged to attend. Announced, the Shriners would be selling tickets for a raffle with the drawing of the winners sometime this fall

The Men left as Masons tonight as Snow Lodge hosted a Entered Apprentice degree. Mr. Stacey Miller, Ty Triplett, and Raymond Labonte were all initated last night. Congratulations to those Brothers, and we hope to see them soon at the foot of the stairs.
